Description
The Molecular Devices SpectraMax 250 is a tunable, 8-channel microplate spectrophotometer designed for UV-Vis absorbance assays (250–750 nm), such as DNA/RNA/protein quantification. It utilizes a xenon flash lamp and a grating monochromator to provide filter-free, rapid readings (5–9 seconds) in 96-well plates, supporting endpoint, kinetic, and spectral scanning modes.
Features
- Optics: Features an 8-channel system (8 sample + 8 reference beams) that functions as a dual-beam system, measuring each well directly for high precision.
- Wavelength Range: 250 nm to 750 nm, tunable in 1-nm increments.
- Detection Modes: Endpoint, Kinetic, and Spectral Scanning, frequently utilized with Softmax Pro Software.
- Applications: Ideal for ELISA, protein assays, DNA/RNA quantification, and microbial growth.
- Performance: Photometric range of 0.000–4.000 OD, with temperature control (4°C above ambient up to 45°C).
- Stand-alone Capabilities: Includes an onboard control panel and LCD, allowing users to save up to 9 custom protocols.
